Day 1: Fly to ENTEBBE
Flight to Uganda on Arrival at Entebbe airport, then transfer by road to your hotel. Night at the hotel.
Day 2: ENTEBBE – BIGODI – KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast and departure for a long drive to western Uganda and Fort Portal, with a picnic en route. Guided walk in the Wetlands sanctuary of Bigodi, where you can observe birds and several kinds of primates including black and white colobus, red-tailed Columbus, and bay red-headed colobus. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: KIBALE FOREST AND ITS RESERVE
A day dedicated to the discovery of the chimpanzee habituation program: a unique experience that will allow you to follow a group of chimpanzees accompanied by researchers and rangers from the Kibale reserve. You will meet the chimpanzees when they wake up and you will observe them all day until bedtime. Meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK – QUEEN ELISABETH NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast and departure for Mweya, the northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, located on a peninsula. Lunch at the lodge, then a boat trip on the Kazinga Canal, followed by a short safari before dark. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: QUEEN ELISABETH PARK (MWEYA – ISHASHA)
Breakfast and dawn safari to the Ugandan cob mating area. Lunch at the lodge, then drive to Ishasha, the southern sector of the park, renowned for its arboreal lions. Safari en route. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: QUEEN ELISABETH NATIONAL PARK (ISHASHA)
Explore Ishasha, considered one of the most attractive regions of East Africa in terms of wildlife observation: groups of elephants, herds of buffaloes, Kobs, and topis. Then drive north of Ishasha, where lions like to bask in fig trees. It is also a mating area for Kobs. In the dry season, detour through the salt marshes of Lake Edward, in search of the stork. Meal and overnight at the lodge.
Day 7: ISHASHA – BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast and last safari at dawn, then drive to the southeast of Bwindi National Park, taking the road that winds along the Kigezi Mountains, from where the panorama is splendid. Lunch at the lodge, then a guided walk through the village. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 8: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK – LAKE BUNYONYI
Hikers’ paradise, Bwindi will be the highlight of your safari thanks to trekking to meet the gorillas, accompanied by a ranger who will tell you the behaviour to adopt when faced with animals. It is difficult to know in advance how long you will have to walk before seeing the primates because your progress will be subject to many unforeseen events.
So expect a long walk (between 2 and 8 hours) and often arduous, in a steep and muddy environment, sometimes in the rain. Good physical condition is, therefore, more than recommended. For protection purposes, the time spent observing the gorillas is limited to 1 hour. Picnic lunch during the hike. On your return, depart for the lake, Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: BUNYONYI LAKE
The Day is dedicated to swimming and relaxing on the magnificent shores of Lake Bunyonyi. Possibility of canoeing or a motorboat excursion. Meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: LAKE BUNYONYI – ENTEBBE – PARIS
Breakfast then drive to Kabale then to the capital of Uganda, with several stops planned because it takes around 9 hours to drive! Lunch along the way. Arrive at the end of the day and transfer to the airport for your flight to Paris. Dinner and overnight on board.
